Post Academy

The post position has gone from being one of the most important positions on the floor to barely used in today’s game. If you look on every level of basketball they’re only a handful of really good back to the basket players in the country. The main reason for the shift is everyone wants to be a guard. Post players feel like they don’t get the ball enough, so they want to play a position that does. Nowadays you have 6ft 10 players afraid to post up, and relying solely on shooting outside jumpersNow it’s important for post players to learn ALL the fundamentals of the game (shooting/dribbling/passing etc) but at our Post Academy we will teach our players how to get position, do moves in the post, rebound, etc. We will explain to them how vital they are on the floor.

 Ball Handling Clinic

In the game of basketball there are basic skills that a player must master to be an effective offensive weapon. One of those skills is the ability be able to dribble the basketball. In this day and age everyone from point guards to centers have to be able to handle the ball. To develop this skill not only takes time, but constant repetition of perfect technique. Once the fundamentals are mastered such as hand positioning, control, and stance more advanced techniques can be taught. We will focus not only the basics of ball handling, but also moves to get past the defender and to the basket.

Shooting Clinic

One of the least taught skills in basketball is the art of shooting. Nowadays if you can shoot the ball you’re labeled a specialist because there are so few “pure” shooters at every level of basketball from high school to the pros. One of the reasons for the lack of shooters in our country is that players are not taught the proper mechanics. Bad habits are overlooked by so called experts that believe if the ball is going in every once in a while then the players must be doing something right. We will break down every aspect of shooting from mastering the short shots (lay ups-in close jumpers) to mid-range and those that can 3 pointers.
